The RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) is to hold an eBay auction from this Saturday 24 January to 30th January 2009 with all the money raised going towards its lifeboat crew welfare. RNLI is a 100% charitably funded organization and all of the people who regularly risk their lives to save sailors and holiday makers who get in distress at sea, are unpaid volunteers.

SOS Day Auction on E-bay

As part of their SOS Fund Raising Day, the RNLI are holding a charity auction through e-bay where anyone can bid for the lots that have been donated. There are some great items up for auction and so this is a wonderful way to combine all the fun of bidding for some very desirable items, with the knowledge that your cash will be used to help save lives.

Things You Can Bid For

The list of biddable items includes a radio-controlled model of a powerboat that won the 2007 P1 power boating world championships (see photograph below) which was donated by shaver manufacturer King of Shaves. This fully-working replica can get up to 35 mph, is approximately 5ft long and worth £800.
